This database contains records from the War Grave Registers for service personnel of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) who died during the First World War in Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. The registers, also known as the 'Black Binders', contain the final resting place of the individual, and were used to record the notification of the next of kin. This database contains records from the Burial Registers for service personnel of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) who died during the First World War in Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. The registers, also known as the 'Brown Binders', contain the initial burial location for Canadian war dead, and were used to report all known information about the death and burial, including details about the circumstances of death. Records may also contain unit name, service number, rank, date of death, religious affiliation, and names of next of kin.British Commonwealth War Graves Registers, 1914-1918
This database contains a collection of cemetery and memorial registers from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The collection is comprised of 16 printed volumes containing 106 registers and covering approximately 250 cemeteries. The cemetery registers generally provide details on who is buried in the cemetery and where they are buried. The memorial registers list the names of individuals with no known grave.
