Published in April of 1897, this directory includes the names, residences, and service history of the clergy of the Church of England, the Episcopal Church in Scotland, and the Church of Ireland. The book lists traditional church positions throughout England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the colonies of Great Britain, and any other foreign position. Also included are clergy members officiating at theological colleges, training institutions, and chaplains in prisons, workhouses, hospitals, lunatic asylums, infirmaries, almshouses, and reformatories. You’ll also find list of colonial and missionary dioceses, as well as church societies.

This publication is searchable by name and location. Advertisements can also be found in this publication, although they were not indexed. Primarily at the beginning of the book, they can be browsed. They list sacramental wine purveyors, church furniture builders, publishers of religious materials, orphan asylums, insurances agencies, and assorted other church-related craftsmen.

For traditional church positions in England, details of religious service are provided, such as the year and location of ordainments, and the various locations they have held positions.
