About New Zealand, World War II Ballot Lists, 1940-1945

These WWII ballot lists, or notices as to men called up under the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940 for Service with the Territorial Force, were extracted from the New Zealand Gazette, the official weekly newspaper of the New Zealand government, between October 1940 and May 1945. They list more than 310,000 names, addresses, and occupations of men who were called to service during WWII. They also include a considerable number of men who volunteered for overseas service as well as names of some who were already serving in Home Defence Units.
