About U.S. Military Burial Registers, 1768-1921

This database contains two registers from U.S. military posts, camps, and stations of burials from 1768-1921. The majority of the burials date from 1860-1890.

These registers were created by the Cemetery Branch of the Office of the Quartermaster General, which was established shortly after the Civil War. The records in the registers were compiled from each post, camp, or station’s burial records or gravestones.

Information contained in these records includes:

  • Name of deceased

  • Rank

  • Company

  • Regiment

  • Date of death

  • Grave mark

  • Place of original place of burial

  • Other remarks
