About Germany, Data on 7,400 North Bavarian Jews

After the end of World War II, when United States military authorities occupied and administered large parts of southern Germany, including Bavaria, an effort was made to document the fate of the former Jewish residents of Bavaria. A part of this material, relating to much of northern Bavaria, was located in the Captured German Records Collection held at the United States National Archives and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. 7,407 names were computerized by 10 volunteers from GerSIG, the German Special Interest Group of JewishGen. The material itself is held in collection RG1996 A0342, reels 5 and 6 at the Museum.
