About Wrexham, Wales Older Nonconformity History

This database contains a history of the nonconformist churches of the city of Wrexham, located in Denbighshire in northern Wales. The term "nonconformist" refers to those that did not conform to the Church of England. Although the Roman Catholics could technically be referred to as nonconformist, the term generally is only used when referring to Protestants, as the Roman Catholics were referred to by a different name. Some of the topics and items found in this work include the Puritanism of Wrexham, the formation of Presbyterian and Independent congregations, the Roman Catholics of Bromfield, and a list of members of the Presbyterian Church of Wrexham from 1746 to 1818, among others. The history of nonconformity in Wrexham is closely connected to the history of the town and parish, making this database valuable for both those who have nonconformist ancestors in Wrexham, and those who are merely interested in the town's local history.
